Michelle Christie
Manual Osteopath
DOMP, RMO, Cranial Sacral Therapist, Bsc Hon
Michelle is a registered manual osteopathic practitioner who specializes in treating chronic pain, headaches and migraines, as well as concussions, TMJ disorders, fibromyalgia, neck and back pain. Michelle's area of expertise is in head, neck and jaw osteopathy which includes special interest practices in Neurovascular Release and Craniosacral therapy.
After several horseback riding accidents in her younger years, Michelle struggled with chronic neck and back pain. After finding little relief from traditional modalities such as chiropractic and massage therapy, Michelle gave osteopathy a try. Shocked at the difference just 1 appointment made in her level of pain and quality of life, she decided to pursue a career in manual osteopathy. Michelle entered into the DOMP (Diploma Osteopathic Manual Practitioner) program at the National Academy of Osteopathy in Toronto, Ontario. She graduated with honors in 2020, and now uses her skills as a manual osteopath to help patients who may be suffering from chronic pain, as she once did.
Michelle is a member of the Osteopathy Chronic Pain Clinics of Canada, and has a special interest in the treatment of patients with head, neck, and jaw conditions, as well as anxiety and stress management. She has also received additional certification in Craniosacral Therapy, Neurovascular Release, Cupping, Facial Cupping, Kinesiology Taping, TMJ Massage, and Indian Head Massage. At this time, Michelle is only 1 of 2 Manual Osteopaths in Ontario offering Neurovascular Release to patients. These techniques are very gentle and can help in restoring proper nerve signaling and blood flow to muscles in the head and neck.
Prior to her education as a Manual Osteopath, Michelle received her Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Zoology from the University of Guelph. She enjoys spending time with her goldendoodle named Cooper, and her retired show jumping horse, Black Tie. In addition to spending time with her pets, she enjoys hiking, gardening, reading and yoga.
